Callum Johnson says WBO title-holder Sergey Kovalev – that combats SaulCanelo Alvarez month – is the weakest of the four globe winners.
Johnson, who pumped out Sean Monaghan in March, was not able to fight WBA champion Dmitry Bivol this fall because of a shoulder injury.
But the 34-year-old is eyeing another shot at a world title battle next year.
Johnson stated:I believe Kovalev is the weakest out of those four, to tell the truth, hes the weakest of those winners. Bivol is next.
Not in terms of skill – I believe Bivol is perhaps the very best concerning boxing ability. But I dont think he is the most powerful and most powerful. Super middleweight could be likely made by him .
He has very wonderful footwork, and he does all really well and technically, to the eye to get a boxing purist he is fantastic and he really is very good but I do not believe hes got the crushing power that everybody thought he had at one stage.
I dont think he has that lots of gears, so I think he is what he is. Hes a top notch fighter but I think he can be upset and he can be roughed up and that I really do believe I have the resources and the power and the power to do this.
Kovalev comes up against Canelo in Las Vegas on November 2, also Johnson anticipates the Mexican to emerge on top.
I believe Canelo [wins]. I think his best times Kovalev has seen.
Do not get me wrong, it is a difficult challenge for Canelo because hes jumping up two burdens and Kovalev is still very, very great.
But I believe if anybody can defeat himnow the time is appropriate to conquer him and we understand how good Canelo is indeed it is a fight Im excited about watching.
As two of the four belt-holders of the division go head to head beterbiev takes on WBC champ Oleksandr Gvozdyk at Philadelphia on Friday.
Johnson is currently backing his own conqueror Beterbiev to beat on the Ukrainian, who he rates as better than Kovalev and Bivol.
He said:The fight tonight is the top two, I think well find out whos the very best tonight.
I believe Beterbiev wins. I hope he wins! [This ] could be a little bit of prejudice but I think Id be picking him to win because he is a really powerful fighter, when I had never boxed Beterbiev and I only see him being too powerful.
Hes also a very good boxer, he has the amateur encounter, the amateur pedigree, like Gvozdyk, [but] I just expect Beterbiev to triumph.
It might be a close battle. Its a genuine 50/50. But I believe Beterbiev will come out on top.
Having missed out on the opportunity Johnson admits before setting his sights on a few of the world 39, he might need to test his fitness with a struggle early next year.
We will find out what happens, he said. I believe Im going to have another fight before I get offered one again, but Id jump directly into one, since Im a fighter and I wish to fight for a world title . Realistically Im likely to get triumph that until I get my luck and to have a fight.
I will fight those next season, so, whenever, wherever.
No matter makes sense, whatever is going to be great for my career, Im happy to perform.
