Head coach Sean Payton has agreed a contract extension with New Orleans Saints, according to reports.
Payton, that has been linked with a move away from the Saints, is in the last year of his current $9m deal, along with the terms of his new deal will keep him before 2024.
Payton, who took up the role in 2006, has directed the group to one Super Bowl title and also six additional playoff appearances including a tragic defeat in the divisional round against Minnesota two years ago, and the NFC title game against the LA Rams past year.
New Orleans kicked off their year with a hard-fought victory over Houston and they confront the Rams again on Sunday – with all moments breaking before kick-off.
The news was first reported by fox’s Jay Glazer, together with NFL’s Ian Rappoport after shortly after and verification from the Saints is anticipated to follow.

He has led New Orleans to 3 13-3 regular-season records, such as in 2018, once the team’s postseason run ended in controversial fashion in the NFC Championship Game.
