England cricket enthusiast Ben Stokes has branded The Sun newspaper”immoral and heartless” once they printed a story about a family catastrophe 31 years ago.
The all-rounder, that was key to England published a statement in reaction after the post to the story on Twitter.
He wrote:”Now The Sun has seen fit to release exceptionally painful, sensitive and individual particulars about events in the personal lives of my loved ones heading back 31 decades.
“It is not easy to locate words that adequately describe such low and despicable behavior, disguised as fiction. I cannot conceive of anything heartless, immoral or contemptuous into conditions and the feelings of my family.
“For more than three years, my family has worked hard to manage the personal injury inevitably related to these incidents and has taken great care to keep confidential what were deeply traumatic and personal events.
“On Saturday, The Sun delivered a’reporter’ to my parents’ house in New Zealand to query themout of the blue, to this exceptionally upsetting topic.
“If that was not bad enough,” The Sun think it’s acceptable to sensationalise our personal tragedy for their front page. To use my title as a excuse to violate the solitude and lives of – specifically – my parents, is still utterly disgusting.
“I’m conscious that my public brings with it impacts for me personally that I accept completely. But I won’t permit my profile to be utilized as an excuse to invade the rights of my wife, my parents, my kids or other family members.
“They are entitled to a private life of their own. The decision has tomb and lifelong consequences for my mom in particular.
“This is the lowest form of journalism, focused solely on pursuing sales with zero respect to the devastation caused to lives as a consequence.
“It’s totally out of order. The post also contains inaccuracies that has compounded the harm caused. We will need to take a critical look at how we let our media.
“Despite the fact that this has been made public, I do ask all concerned to honor my family’s privacy and into home life.”
The Sun has published the following statement to Sky:”The Sun has the utmost sympathy for Ben Stokes along with his mother . however, it is just right to point the story was told with the co-operation of a family member who provided details, given photos and posed for pictures.
“The catastrophe is also an issue of public record and was the topic of comprehensive front page advertisements in New Zealand at the moment.
“The Sun has huge respect for Ben Stokes and we’re delighted to celebrate his athletic heroics this summer. He had been contacted prior to publication and at no stage did he or his representatives ask us not to release the narrative.”
