The St. Louis Blues are back on the ice for the next of their five-game road trip on Thursday night at Ottawa. They had a couple of days off to enjoy their 3-2 win. Following tonight, they will make the short trip to Montreal for a date using the Canadiens on Saturday.
The Islanders will be wrapped up from New York against the Islanders by the road trip two days afterwards. They wont play back in St. Louis till next Thursday night against the Canucks. Their road trip feels a lot longer, as it will happen to be 12 times between their last match.
The Blues are perfect with wins of 3-2 against the Stars and Maple Leafs thus far, on the street trip. Tonight will mark the third match of the season for the Senators. They started the season with a loss against the Maple Leafs in Toronto, and then dropped a 4-1 decision against the Rangers.
Two games into the season and the Senators have had a lengthy break from actions. I wouldnt really enjoy that after getting the season underway. I had quite, and I believe most people would agree, when the legs begin to become tired and tired that itd be more beneficial later in the season. The Senators likely do not need to worry about a late playoff push, therefore its all a moot point.
In any event, the Senators should be feeling fresh for their matchup against the Blues tonight. They have had lots of time. There arent likely to be some explanations for coming out flat, but this is.
St. Louis have earned a point in each of three matches theyve played, with their season opener against the Capitals that the only loss thus far. Theyll look to prevent an upset against the Sens tonight. Head below for our free Blues vs. Senators select.
Despite the lengthy layoff, go to the backup and the Senators will provide Craig Anderson off the night. Anderson is off to a shaky start to this season, as he has published a 4.58 GAA and also 0.875 save percent on 72 shots. He may be a giant scapegoat for the team in 2019-20, however. There arent too many goaltenders in the NHL who would find victory in Ottawa. At some stage the netminder must be helped by the defence outside and there isnt much of it to be found in Ottawa.
The Senators finished dead defensively a season ago. They let an average of 3.67 goals per game, which had been mostly because of a bad blue line. The goaltending all you need, however, the Senators were last in shots allowed per match. They had to deal with an average of 35.7 shots each match plus also a plethora of scoring chances in front of the net.
The entire year, its been more of the same for the Sens to open. Ottawa have allowed 4.5 aims and 36 shots each game, therefore it is right back to what they were accustomed to a year past. Without Erik Karlsson in the line, the Senators have looked completely lost and there are no signs it will get better to them.
This does not bode well against Jordan Binnington along with the Blues defence. Anticipate the Blues to be able to get their offence tonight, forcing the Senators to do anything from the zone. The Senators obtained Nilsson in the Canucks last season, and all things considered, he played decently enough with a 2.90 GAA and also 0.914 save percentage. Together with the Canucks, Nilsson finished with a 2.97 GAA over the season.
They are likely to want a standout performance by him to have a shot at the mad tonight. Acceptable will still result in a 4-1 or 3-1 reduction for your Senators, although nilsson may have a fine game. The Sens are coming to this contest off a nice break. However, it will not matter in the end with the Blues in the city. Taking into consideration the cost of all +125, the Blues are worth a look on the puckline here.
