For replacing Gary Lineker I’m fairly well-known. I got warmed up with Alan Shearer.
Graham Taylor advised us to heat up and I got called back rather than Shearer, who was a young boy. I thought I would be heading on to associate Gary, who had been my partner at Leicester back from the afternoon, but rather he came , I went on.
I didn’t have enough the time to consider it. I wanted to try and do my best, but it didn’t actually work out.
I scored a Qualifier’s only objective at Wembley, that was. It was against Turkey and all my loved ones were up in the stand.
We didn’t play in the second half and we got booed off the pitch in the old Wembley, however I did not care.
I had got the only objective of the match for my own country in order that was enough, to get us points at a qualifier.
