Callum Johnson states WBO title-holder Sergey Kovalev – who combats with SaulCanelo Alvarez following month – is that the weakest of the four world champions.
Was not able to fight WBA champion Dmitry Bivol this fall because of a shoulder injury.
Nevertheless, the 34-year-old is eyeing another shot at a world title battle next year.
Johnson stated:I think Kovalev is the weakest out of the four, to be honest, he is the weakest of these winners. Bivol is likely next.
Not in terms of skill – I believe Bivol is perhaps the best concerning boxing skill. But I really dont think he is the most powerful and most powerful. Super middleweight could be probably made by him .
He has very wonderful footwork, and he really does everything really well and , into the eye for a boxing purist he is fantastic and that he really is extremely good but I dont think he has the devastating power that everybody thought he had at one point.
I really dont think he has that lots of gears, I think hes exactly what he is. He is a top-level boxer but I believe he could be upset and he could be roughed up and now I do believe I have the resources and the strength and the capability to do this.
Kovalev comes up against Canelo in Las Vegas on November 2, also Johnson expects the Mexican to come out on top.
I think Canelo [wins]. I believe his best days, Kovalev has seen.
Do not get me wrong, its a difficult challenge for Canelo because he is leaping up two burdens and Kovalev remains very, very good.
However, I believe if anyone can beat him, now the time is enough to beat him and we understand how great Canelo is so it is a fight I am excited about watching.
Beterbiev requires on WBC champ Oleksandr Gvozdyk at Philadelphia on Friday as two of the branchs four belt-holders go.
Johnson is backing his own conqueror Beterbiev to beat the Ukrainian, who he rates as better than Kovalev and Bivol.
He said:The fight tonight would be the best two, I think well find out whos the very best tonight.
I believe Beterbiev wins. I hope he wins! [That] could be a bit of prejudice but I still think Id be picking him to win because he is a fighter when Id never boxed Beterbiev and I only see him becoming strong.
He is also a very good boxer, hes got the amateur experience, the amateur pedigree, just like Gvozdyk, [but] I only hope Beterbiev to win.
It could be a close battle. Its a real 50/50. However, I believe Beterbiev will come out on top.
Having missed the opportunity Johnson admits before setting his sights on one of the reigning world champions he might have to check his fitness with a fight.
We will find out what happens, he said. I think Im going to have yet another fight until I get offered once, but I would jump straight into one, since Im a fighter and I wish to fight for a world title again. Im likely to need to really have a meaningful struggle and win that before I get my luck.
I will fight whoever next year, so, whenever, wherever.
Whatever makes sense, whatever is going to be good for my career, Im happy to do.
