Even the 100th NFL regular season opens Thursday, Sept. 5, when the Green Bay Packers travel to Chicago to face the Bears.
With under a week , New Jersey sportsbooks are gearing up for a season of NFL football.
While 2018 was the inaugural football many books were spaces. It wasn’t until after in 2019 and 2018 that the 10 sportsbooks upgraded to their centers. Borgata, for the part, made a whole new space near the Race & Sports Book.
I have been reviewing every single NJ sportsbook ahead of opening day. Today’s focus is Book & Borgata’s Moneyline Bar.
Address: 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City, NJ 08401
The Borgata house is still a relative newcomer in 2003, opening to the Atlantic City landscape. Now Borgata is just one of three Atlantic City casinos located in the Marina District.
From a gaming standpoint, Borgata is exceptional as they are the only Atlantic City casino that offers wagering on horse racing, using a great 100-seat theatre for simulcast horse betting. With their horse racing game infrastructure set up, it was no surprise that Borgata was the first Atlantic City casino to offer sports gambling last summer, on-site at their land.
Borgata online casino established its own NJ sports betting app and lately, the brand new Moneyline sportsbook was started by the casino.
Moneyline Bar & Book opened June 29 and can be located directly adjacent to the horse racing simulcast center (which still offers sports stakes ). Together with MGM as Borgata’s parent firm, they understand how to deliver first-class entertainment properties. Moneyline is still a more space.
The book is big which means you’ll have plenty of space around the pub or at the table. The very best method to describe the texture of the Moneyline would be”ultra-high-end sports pub.”
It is a huge space (8,000 square foot, second only to Bally’s Atlantic City sportsbook) ruled by a visually stunning 40-foot wide by 11.5-foot large LED video wall. There are 17 additional TV displays, and they’re all huge format and supply viewing options. There is also space available for either foosball table and a shuffleboard if you need to kill a while prior to your football match kicks off.
Besides the bar region that provides a broad selection of craft beers and drinks, there is also a food menu with plenty of sandwich and appetizer options.
But I see some drawbacks to the design of the Moneyline.
For one, the light is maintained low. If you’re watching a game, As soon as it’s great, it’s a challenge if you’re studying a menu or scouring last-minute game information. But the major concern for me is that which I call the”form and function” of this Moneyline. Its kind, as mentioned, is top shelf. It will have some challenges because a working sportsbook.
One of the many excellent things about a sportsbook is the capacity to fall in, create your bets, and discover a chair to see the game(s) whether it’s for 10 minutes or two hours. To a reservation for a desk or couch, one’s ability to have a seat is tied at Moneyline.
It is in a table, Should you snag an chair and you will be asked what you’d like to purchase to eat or drink. I suppose being at a sportsbook to observe some games is not sufficient.
My point-of-view: There’s a feeling which you also will have to measure on a food or drink order. Point is, while there is seemingly lots of space to do so, there aren’t any”unattached” chairs in the Borgata sportsbook.
In terms of accessibility to the Borgata, even if you are not carrying a ride-share organization or a jitney to Moneyline, the charges are a bargain at $5.
Moneyline has an”in-the-round” design using a huge bar in the middle of each of the action.
If you can not get enough sports betting action the 35-foot-long bar also has video gaming terminals. There are a number of fantastic rolls with 10 high-top tables using five luxurious sofa booths and stations. There is also a VIP lounge room with additional seating.
There are six teller terminals in Moneyline. As a point of view, at Borgata’s horse racing simulcast center (that the Race & Sports Book) there are sports gaming chairs. However, at Moneylineit is sports gambling no more horse.
RATING: 4 stars
Borgata now has two terminals available at Moneyline.
RATING: 3.5 stars
The wager at the teller window is $5, which outside of this William Hill NJ possessions, is that the normal teller minimal at AC sportsbooks. While some locations have kiosks that is not a choice here as the kiosks have a $5%.
RATING: 2.5 stars
Even the 35-foot high video wall is a brilliant screen, with a certain”WOW” factor.
As mentioned, all the other TV screens in the book are also in a big format, so it is definitely a”quality over quantity” approach to the TV screen d??cor of this Moneyline.
This certainly works if a game that you would like to view is on one of the screens, but if you’re looking for something other than Eagles, Jets, and Giants at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, then there may be a few challenges.
RATING: 5 stars
With a”fire marshal” maximum overall capacity of 444, but by my estimate there are not any more than 100 chairs in the publication.
There are not any stand-alone seats available, as stated. The chairs that do exist would be in the pub or portion of table seats and (in my opinion) inherently tied to a beverage and/or food order. I would add more chairs to the site.
RATING: 2.5 stars
The flip side of limited”unattached” chairs is the access to reserved tables.
When many sportsbooks offer limited to no reserved seats options (unless you happen to be a VIP), Moneyline sportsbook at the Borgata allows tables to be reserved in advance. Currently, Fantasy Football draft party packages are being offered by Moneyline for no less than eight people.
RATING: 5 stars
There is an extensive food and drink menu at the Moneyline as previously mentioned. This is an upgrade from grabbing a piece of pizza or hot dog from the casino food court and schlepping back to your own table.
This really is a temporary intersection of”Sports Bar” matches”Restaurant” meets”Sportsbook” menu. As one would expect, it is higher-end and is more higher-priced. That’s not just a soft pretzel about the menu; it’s a”Giant Bavarian Pretzel accompanied with Stone Ground Mustard.”
RATING: 4.5 stars
The Borgata sportsbook includes a sensible quantity of betting staff at the teller windows. Nearly all the personnel are all hospitality and wait staff moving to from servicing the tables.
On the day of my time visit, there have been several line that is daily and price sheets available. It was fine, but nothing notable.
RATING: 3.5 stars
Borgata is among three casinos located in the marina. Atlantic City does provide a jitney shuttle service that is relatively cheap ($ two ) and can get one to the other Marina District casinos (Harrah’s, Golden Nugget) and all the additional Boardwalk spots.
Then the fees for Borgata are $5, and it will be a relative bargain in comparison to Atlantic City casinos, if you aren’t driving the AC jitneys.
RATING: 4.5 stars
Borgata has restaurants as well as casino gambling action, clubs, along with a spa located on site.
There are no casino choices within walking distance once you’re in Borgata as is the case with Golden Nugget and Harrah’s. However there are plenty of on-site activities here to keep you busy.
RATING: 4 stars
As part of every sportsbook visit, I’m putting a wager for the season.
Borgata has posted gamers futures for individual season leaders in receiving and rushing yards. I made a future stake on Leveon Bell to play with 2019 to prove after sitting out last year, now priced at 14-1 in racing to direct the NFL:
Moneyline sportsbook at Borgata is certainly worth checking out. Sunday it, large TV screens and also a large variety of food and drink choices put it upon the of all AC sportsbooks to set up shop on a college football Saturday or even NFL.
Albeit a restaurant that’s a part of a sports pub, which appears to have sportsbook, moneyline feels like a restaurant first. If that is for, then it is an ideal spot.
It is certainly not sportsbook”standard-fare” layout which may contain heaps of unencumbered seats and 50-plus TV screens. MGM has taken a different and unique approach with their $12M sportsbook investment at the Borgata. It may not be for everyone’s appetite, but that is OK.
Then head next door to the Borgata book if you would like to become elbow-to-elbow with a team and you will have plenty of opportunities to mix this up.
